African Beekeepers Donates Observation Hives

Students observing bees in the Lewa's Conservation Education center observation bee hive. The observation hives were donated by African Beekeepers Ltd.

African Beekeepers Ltd donated observation hives to Lewa Conservation Education Center in support of Lewa's Conservation Education Programme in 2011. This is in line with our Corporate Social Responsibility (C.S.R) efforts. The observation beehives have continued to offer a valuable experience to the students visiting the Conservation Education Centre. More than 10,000 students have visited the education centre since its installation and continues to thrive well.

The exhibit offers an exciting opportunity to communicate: Benefits of insects through pollination, products such as candles, medicines ets; Challenges facing insects and in particular bees i.e. pollution, cultivation using chemicals, land degradation; Bee keeping (comparing modern and traditional bee keeping); Bee keeping as an economic venture; etc.
